Copilot brings Python-powered analysis into everyday Excel editing

Microsoft says Edit with Copilot in Excel can now execute Python for advanced analysis, automation and data transformation on Windows, Mac and the web. Results are returned directly to the workbook, with existing security and code-execution controls still applying.
Advanced Excel analysis often required users to know Python, move data into another tool or wait for a specialist. That gap limited how far many Copilot users could take a workbook after basic formulas and summaries. Copilot can now help translate an analytical request into Python-backed work inside Excel. The important shift is access, not automatic correctness: users still need to inspect the generated analysis, assumptions and workbook output before relying on it.
Analysis
Choose a non-sensitive workbook and ask Edit with Copilot to clean one column or explain one trend with Python. Check the resulting data and logic before reusing the pattern on important reporting.
