Claude Sonnet 5 rolls into Microsoft 365 Copilot

Microsoft said on July 2, 2026 that Anthropic Claude Sonnet 5 is rolling out in Microsoft 365 Copilot, starting with Copilot Cowork and Copilot in PowerPoint. Microsoft describes it as a frontier model option for agentic, multi-step work across documents, spreadsheets and presentation tasks. Admins can manage access based on organisational policy and readiness, while rollout may vary by region and tenant configuration.
Before this, many Copilot users experienced model choice as invisible plumbing. They could judge whether an output was useful, but they did not have much reason to think about matching a model to the shape of the work. Now model choice is becoming part of everyday AI workflow design, especially for tasks that need planning, context and polished business artifacts.
