Box adds admin report showing exact AI feature usage and cost

Box will release a phased AI Units Admin Report in June 2026. The report shows consumption data and granular controls for each AI feature inside the platform. A fuller AI Insights dashboard is scheduled for late July. The change responds to enterprise demand for clearer AI spend tracking. Rollout is limited to admins and does not alter pricing for end users.
Before this, most SaaS vendors treated AI usage as an opaque line item that only surfaced on the monthly bill. Founders could quote vague token estimates and hope the numbers stayed reasonable. Now the largest vendors are exposing exact consumption per feature. This makes hidden costs visible to buyers and forces every AI-native product to compete on transparent unit economics rather than marketing claims.
