Browser QR codes make SharePoint pages easier to reach

Browser QR codes make SharePoint pages easier to reach

A fresh SharePoint Maven walkthrough shows how page owners can create a downloadable QR code for a SharePoint page from Chrome or Microsoft Edge. The approach does not add a SharePoint feature: it uses the browser’s built-in sharing control to create a scan-to-open route for an existing page.

An intranet can be well organised and still be hard to reach for people away from a desk. Printing a simple route to a stable page, such as an onboarding hub, policy acknowledgement page or training site, can remove the need to remember a long link or navigate the full site on a phone. The QR code is only as safe and useful as the page behind it. A moved, permission-restricted or out-of-date page creates a dead end, so this works best for maintained destinations with the right mobile access and a named content owner.

Analysis

Choose one stable, high-value SharePoint page used by frontline or occasional staff. Create a test QR code, scan it on a non-admin mobile device, and confirm the page opens with the intended permissions before printing or sharing it.
