Microsoft ends free AI Builder credits in Power Apps on 1 November 2026

Microsoft ends free AI Builder credits in Power Apps on 1 November 2026

Microsoft will stop seeded AI Builder credits on 1 November 2026. Those monthly credits that came with licenses such as Power Apps Premium go away, and AI Builder capacity add-ons stop being sold or renewed for existing customers on the same date. Active add-ons still work until they expire. AI Builder features themselves are not being removed. They keep running, but usage moves to Copilot Credits. Until then, Power Apps and Power Automate try AI Builder credits first each month, then fall back to Copilot Credits. If neither is available, the action is blocked. There is no automatic swap of leftover AI Builder credits into Copilot Credits. Usage totals can lag by several days, which can briefly allow extra runs and then block later ones once the meter catches up.

For a long stretch, a premium Power Apps license quietly included a pool of AI Builder credits. That made document processing, prediction, or other AI Builder steps feel like a free experiment inside a canvas app or approval flow. Many teams never noticed the meter because the seeded pool covered light use. After 1 November 2026 that cushion disappears. The same control or flow step still appears in the maker studio, but it now depends on Copilot Credits your tenant actually buys and allocates. An app that looked finished can start failing mid-run for ordinary users when credits are exhausted or not assigned, even though the SharePoint list and forms still work.

Analysis

This is a trap to avoid if you only sprinkled AI Builder into a tracker for novelty, and a budget conversation only if a live process truly depends on it. Open each production app and related flow, list every AI Builder model or action, and either plan Copilot Credit capacity with your admin or strip those steps before November so the core SharePoint app keeps running without a surprise block.
