Microsoft blocks Copilot Chat in Office apps for large unlicensed firms
Microsoft will disable Copilot Chat in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote for unlicensed users in organizations with more than 2000 Microsoft 365 seats from April 15, 2026. Large firms lose advanced AI features and must purchase $30/user/month licenses, while smaller orgs retain access. This ends free trials for enterprises.
